Sound Minds: Musicians on Mental Health

A chit chat with Mike Hilleary about his new book, writing, and more!

Hey Loners,

Happy Saturday.

A few years ago, during COVID, I spoke to MikeHilleary about mental health for a book he was writing about musicians and mental health.

The book is out now!

It is called Sound Minds: Musicians on Mental Health, and it features conversations with tons of artists — including Sharon Van Etten, Shamir, Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World, Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional, Ritzy Bryan from The Joy Formidable, (me!) etc. about anxiety, depression, burnout, addiction, identity, and the emotional realities that can exist alongside making art and performing publicly.

I think one of the most important things we can do is continue to de-stigmatize conversations around mental health, especially in creative communities where so many people silently struggle.

Share I Think We're Alone Now

I really enjoyed speaking with Mike for the book, and I’m thrilled the book is out in the world. He and I spoke recently about the book, and some of our Saturday habits. I edited our conversation down a bit for clarity and length, but I’m excited to share it with you here today.

Hope you enjoy it, and if the conversation resonates with you, be sure to pick up a copy of Sound Minds: Musicians on Mental Health by Mike Hilleary.

Bye,

Tegan
