What Will I Read Next?
A list of books I haven't read from the NYT Best Books of the 21st Century.
Loners!
I saw Sara’s post about the books she has read from the NYT Best Books of the 21st Century. It inspired me to go through the list and mark which ones I want to read, rather than marking the ones I have already read (I think I had read about 42 of them) to share with you!
Note: there were PLENTY of books I think that should have been on that list that weren’t!
Best-of lists always make me a bit uneasy. I believe all art is subjective, so when people ask for my favourite book, author, or band, I find it challenging to give a definitive answer. It often depends on my mood what might jump to the front of the line or top of my mind. I feel reluctant to make favourite lists because music, books, art, TV, and movies have all played a significant role in shaping what I create, how I live, and how much I’ve cried, laughed, and dreamed. How do you pair that down to a top five or say conclusively what is best, or what has left the deepest mark? Also, my list of favourites doesn’t begin to reflect the incredible depth of art out there I haven’t yet discovered. So making a list feels futile because there will always be more to add.
But, all that being said, here are some possible future secret favourites from the NYT’s list that I haven’t read. If you have, tell me which one I should start with. (Realistically I’ll put all of them on hold at the library and read whatever comes up first).
Happy Reading!

Bring Up the Bodies was SooOOooo good. I liked Wolf Hall but thought it was a bit of a slog at times - but I FLEW through Bring Up the Bodies.
