Weirdly enough I recently went through all my old cd's in storage, the idea was to get rid of them,it didn't go well at all,so many memories tied to them, needless to say I ended up listening to a lot of them,Gin blossoms💟.So much good music in the 90's.

Hey Sara,

Thanks for the post! I understand you guys are on tour (hope your having loads of fun) but please when you can, read the posts for us, it helps me out a lot.

I’ll admit I didn’t know a lot of those, in reality chances are, I’ve heard at least half (as I used to listen to 80’s and 90’s songs in the car with my dad) but I never learnt their names so I don’t recognise them. I’ll have to check some of them out. It’s funny how sometimes a song can transport you back to an old memory, there’s not a lot of songs tha do that for me as I pay more attention to lyrics than I used to, but songs from when I was younger still do that sometimes. (By that I mean the lyrics do and not so much the whole song like it used to). Anyway I was practically raised listening to Coldplay and Crowded House (my mum’s favourite bands) so some of their songs are soundtracks to my childhood in some ways. Like for example when I listen to Coldplay’s ‘Up&Up’ I always think of when I sat in the train station waiting with my mum for the train, I couldn’t tell you how old I was, but I remember lots of details from it, it was raining and I was upset about something I remember the exact rainbow colours of the favourite rainbow rain jacket I had when I was younger (that I’d probably still where if I hadn’t grown out of it years ago.). And one of Crowded house’s song’s ‘Amsterdam’ always makes me remember fun car trips with my parents (all of us singing the song) and them telling me about how the song reminds them of an argument that they had last time they were in Amsterdam, (they like to argue, it helps them solve problems, so I still always look back fondly on that memory.)

Another one of Coldplay’s songs often makes me remember back to the school bus when I’d listen to my music to try to prepare myself for the school day and Coldplay’s ’Fix you’ was a regular for a while (before I discovered T&S of course). (I also think it’s really funny that ‘Fix you’ is very well known but your ‘Fix you up’ came out first. Both are fantastic songs).

Anyway, enough talking from me. Whoever reads this, hope you enjoyed, if you made it this far.

Thanks for the post Sara!

PS: I’m making my way through reading Junior high, even though I’m older than the target audience I highly recommend to all ages, particularly to T&S fans! I’m really loving it! Although it’s annouying not being able to tell cartoon Tegan and Sara apart because I’ve been able to tell the real ones apart for so long now, I keep waiting for one of you to introduce yourself and then check what your both wearing.

I distinctly remember thinking the band was called “So, Phoebe Hawkins”. I was sure of it.

Can't help but picture all of the "scenes" with the music in the background. Also, reading this post was the exact length of my commute, thanks for sharing :)

Given that we're basically the same age, I am unsurprised that so many of these hit the mark. Love that you included "Lemon" by U2.... seriously underrated song / album.

Sara, it’s really nice seeing you on here and on social more. This was a great post. It’s inspiring me to do one of my own. Reading your list, I actually laughed out loud a few times. 😊

The day you posted this, I retired. There was a small part of the ceremony I dreaded and that was singing the Army song. I hate singing…probably because I suck at it. I admire you, Tegan, and every other singer that can get up and belt out songs. Singer will not be my future job. LOL.

Great list, Sara!! I’ve loved hearing you both love Stay by Shakespeare’s Sister! I bought the single cassette and listened to it on repeat. I bring it up every now and then and no one knows it.

I love how music plays a big part in your memories. Music plays a big part of my memorie s as well. There's certain songs that transport me in time to specific moments. It's like going on a trip back in time.

Why does this post give me nostalgia? Especially the I Will Always Love You memory. I’ve had a similar one but to Christina Aguilera Hurt MV

Maybe it's loser-y but I love CDs (I even like to make mixtapes with show setlists which might even be more loser-y) Again, I didn't grow up in the 90's so I didn't have to go through the... turmoil of not having Spotify. I will definitely listen to this playlist you made, I love to see what you guys liked to listen to and your music influences. That list seems to have a lot of "classics". I love how the music we listen can do deeply effect a person and memories associated with it

Great list 🔥Pretty sure I have most of those already in my 90s throwback playlist but going to listen through to see if there’s any I’ve forgotten about 🫶🏻 So many good songs came from the 90s in all genres.
