I love that the video ended up being one of your own, rather than scenes from the movie. From the moment I started watching it I immediately thought, “Yellow;” I love that the two so seamlessly connect, while being unique in the own ways.
And that DRONE footage! I’m with you 100%, Tegan, but that (ariel-type) image -- my Photographer is showing -- is something I’ve envisioned so many times with my couples, and loosely achieved with only a few. It’s definitely time to expand my arsenal... slightly.
ps: stunning image of Sara, Lindsey; that light - so good!
edit many hours later: in replying to a comment I wandered over to Pamela's site..., and HOLY INCREDIBLE! I couldn't even get past the first image of her splash page (ya rock stars 😉,) before returning here to comment.
I’m loving the new music vids so far! So excited for the two new songs and the colab next week. And the 28th (29th for me). I like the wig, although I like yours and Sara’s hair better!
The swinging thing, wow, I had no idea that it could make you motion sick. I used to love swinging on swings when I was younger and would do it for hours (if my parents let me). Which is part of the reason I loved that you had a swing video! Sorry that you got sick though.
Also, I have to say the wig tripped me up a little, I saw the image of you on the swing as the thumbnail of the video before I saw the press shots of the both of you, I didn’t look at the photo properly and assumed it was Sara, apologies (it was only the long hair, I can tell you apart even with the same haircut.), I also feel a bit embarrassed because I only realised it was you when my mum (who I’ve spent the past year teaching to tell you apart) told me it was you. Sorry, genuine mistake. (I would’ve figured it out by myself when the video started).
Love the ‘little reasons to subscribe’ pitches. I’ve been subscribed since substack first started, but still like to read them cause they seem to get funnier and funnier.
I too have a story about an annoying lady, (love how you said not to be rude to her in the comments, I’m not here to spread hate either), I was at my work experience place and this lady walks in takes a look around the small bookshop and asks ‘do you have any book reviews anywhere?’ (My work experience thing was only for a week, it was my third day). I responded ‘um, what do you mean?’.
‘I don’t know, I just wanted to read a gay book, do you have any book reviews,’ (I’m working at an LGBT+ bookstore) (also the tone she said the word ‘gay’ in was kind of like it was something foreign or strange), the conversation went on for a while and I had to go and get my boss (secretly a little glad she’d now be his problem and not mine, she came across as quiet passive aggressive, and she was of an older generation (early 60’s)). They talked and he explained that while there weren’t any in the store there were some online. She got annoyed with him (after he showed her how to get onto the website), and said it was inconvenient. She did some more browsing and then eventually walks back, looks at my boss and holds up a book, ‘this book’s had great reviews, I don’t know why you put it at the back of the shelf’. She says quiet rudely. I told her in a calm voice to have a nice day and she frowned at me as she left, like she knew she was being rude. Jeez, let’s just say I understand your pain with the lady who wouldn’t move for the shot.
I like your ; by the way ❤️! (I assume that’s what that is, I can’t see it probably?)
I don’t know why but it made me chuckle to read about the efforts to go out of your way to look more like your identical twin. This video is great and I love the song. I lived in a notoriously foggy area of the California coast in my teen years and I could feel, smell, taste the environment which only added to the nostalgic vibes. Its been a while since I ran out on anyone’s love but this song and the video expertly resurrect those feelings.
I feel so silly for not realizing there was a fog machine, amazing job creating the atmosphere. The video is so sad and haunting, the drone footage was my favourite too! Now I gotta go back and look for frisbees lol!
Speaking of music videos: years ago when you released Boyfriend, there was an article that talked about Sara having her face/head covered in plaster to make a replica of herself for the music video (I believe), and the teaser for Boyfriend was like a footage of her wearing some artistic makeup, was that a concept that got cancelled? I love the video for Boyfriend so I'm kinda glad it didn't happen but I'm curious!
I love how innovative your music videos for this album cycle are, the swings are simple yet effective and I love the above shot. Hadn't thought about the motion sickness from swings, having to do that for hours must have been tough! I'm going to a park tonight but definitely won't find cool Canadian twins who sang the lego song filming their latest music video there! My sister's boyfriend once saw Phoebe Waller Bridge filming something on the roof across from his flat in Glasgow which was cool.
OK, I don't know if this is the thread we're supposed to go to, but... It was my wish that for the anniversary of Sainthood the New Orleans demos would be released, so hearing Tegan saying that was her idea too made me so happy! Let's make it happen!! Let's make it a special fundraiser for the Tegan and Sara foundation or somethig!!!!
First of all, the video is beautiful, koodos to the team. Sorry the swing made you sick, the same thing would have happened to me. The "Sara at golden hour" photo is breathtaking, wow. Thank you for a beautiful song and fantastic video. Fun fact, I have those exact pair of Sara's shoes in the video. Ha!! Thanks for the great post!!!!
In the last few months I've been feeling a little " drowned" and this song came at the exact moment to be my lifesaver I can't wait to check out the album and enjoy it with every bit of my being. ❤️
PS. I don't know how I would have reacted to seeing an artist making a video I would probably die of excitement.
Love song, LOVE the video and actually I am enjoying the way the videos are being shot, Yellow is great and this just keeps following through. You have a GREAT team with super ideas coming through, the drone shot is spot on and hell!, even if Christine did have to keep ushering people away, it actually makes a more "normal" actual situation one could find oneself in during those moments. That's life!! I love those natural situation videos, and personally I think they bring even more meaning into the song and lyrics.
Spot on keep them coming everyone. As Oliver Twist would say "Please can I have some more!"
You are also doing good advertising for Vancouver, so itching to come and see it, it looks so beautiful i all the scenes.

(…And that parachute image?! Holy shit!)
This song gives me all the feels! ♥️💔❤️🩹 You (t&s) and your team are geniuses!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
"If it ain’t broken, keep going" will be my next tattoo, or maybe it will be "I’d obviously prefer I had more money"
Anyways, always very interesting to have those BTS. Thank to you and your wig

I’ve decided that lady wanted to be in the video real bad. Sad news for her if she watches. Lol.
It is beautiful and haunting. Fog machines should just be standard. 😆
Great work to all.

I love the song and it’s one of my favorite videos you’ve released in many years. Simple and sweet!

Ciao Tee,
again not related to this content, but I just saw your "The spark before I bark" tee on IG and to me it's the best looking piece of attire ever.
So fine.
Also, nice dinosaur.
