Lori- I’m so sorry your kid is going through that. It’s one of my greatest fears as a parent. My 5 year old has already been targeted when he was in pre k. I don’t know if it’s because he has 2 moms, because his nails were done, or because kids are just assholes. My wife and I ended up putting him in Taekwando to help with self esteem and also for him to know how to defend himself. 4 kids tackled him at school and Wouldn’t let him up and kept on doing it until he finally got away. I was a MAD mama bear.

It’s a hard lesson to learn that not everyone is nice. I was bullied in school and I had hoped better for him. It breaks my heart.

How does she feel about things? Have the teachers and other adults addressed the bullying? So they have any inclusive curriculum. I live in Bible Belt Oklahoma where religion teaches that my wife and I are going to hell.

Does your kiddo know anyone else with 2 moms?

I hope things get better for your family. Hugs.

Loved this post. Can’t wait to read more about about your parenthood journey. I’m always not sure what type of queer books to recommend to my students who come out to me and ask for something to read. They’re 13-14 and right now I’m hyping them about Junior High, but if you have other recommendations, I’d love that.

Love to hear the shoutout for 9:30 Club. I’ve seen you live twice, both in DC. The first time was at Anthem for the Con X tour. I was by myself and sat in the first row of the back section which had some pretty good people watching but not a great view of the stage. The second time was at The Lincoln Theater for the High School tour. That time I had a bunch of friends along but we still sat way in the back. This time around I have VIP tickets to the show and I’m meeting up with some diehard fans I met on Twitter who are coming down from Canada, so chances are we will be standing right by the stage. Excited to finally experience that 9:30 magic.

Sara- I look forward to hearing about your parenthood journey. As the non gestational parent, it’s nice for me to hear from other non gestational parents. It is a very different and unique role that the Hetero world can never fully understand. While everyone’s parenthood journey is different, there are a lot of shared similar experiences among non gestational parents.

So many great questions! I love the question asking about the producers you've worked with. It's so interesting following your journery and seeing who you've worked with a long the way.

Absolutely enjoyed this post and we will be forever grateful. Sara, you helped create a core memory for our little family as our 2nd grader listened to your advice. Just want to let you know, every morning the phrase "Alexa, play Tegan and Sara walking with a ghost" coming from her room will hold an extra special place in our hearts. Thank you!

Hey Sara,

Thanks for answering everyone’s questions! It’s good to see you back! I love hearing both you and Tegan read, and as much as I love hearing Tegan read I missed hearing you read posts too!

I didn’t ask another question, but I hope you saw my comment on the questions post?

It was great hearing you talk about all that stuff, thanks for talking about parenthood too, cause I wasn’t sure if you’d tell us much to respect Sid’s privacy, but thanks for still respecting Sid and giving us the info you feel comfortable sharing!

I worry (long down the line) about how binary and hetero parenting is still portrayed. (I’m genderfluid), I’m sure by then 2 mum’s or 2 dad’s won’t seem so uncommon. But nonbinary representation just isn’t there in the media and I’ve never seen a nonbinary parent in tv shows recently (you hardly ever see even a nonbinary character or gay/bi parents represented). Sorry not trying to rant, but you briefly mentioned that in your last post and I think about it a lot. I also think about how there’s no gender neutral mum/dad equivalent, though I have come up with one I like (not sharing on the internet though, maybe in one of my books).

Again, so glad to have you back!

Thanks for making time for us in what seems a very busy schedule.

❤️. I’m excited for when the graphic novel comes out. I’m a teacher and I am going to buy a few for my class and a few for the older kids who might want to borrow them. Thanks for the great post Sara!

Thanks sara. Hope you still have time to record these during your press tour. Loved seeing you guys on Seth Meyers and seeing Yellow performed for the first time. It sounded amazing! The fits were on point too.
