One of my favorite songs of all time. Seriously, top 10. I still belt it out in the car every Friday while driving to Trader Joe’s. Been singing this to the top of my lungs since I was 16!
I love hearing demos so much! This is such a great song and the lyrics are so succinct and effective in getting the meaning across.
I am a perfectionist in my brain and it makes it so hard for me to make music. I understand where i would like my songs to be but the fact that i cant spit out a perfectly mixed song on the first attempt is a travesty to me and i want to throw my brain IN A BIN.
I guess i REALLY appreciate how you are putting this substack together. I really appreciated how the audiobook was put together too and also the con doco. My taste and understanding of elements of songs has grown miles beyond what i am currently capable of creating because i never fully let myself make those first level demos.
I love how extremely raw this demo is. I can feel the anguish, the angst, the frustration. I appreciate so much that this darkness is expressed in this album, I think that’s what gives it so much power.
i'm fascinated by this exploration of each others lyrics. when reading the response (in this round Tegan reading Sara's responses), do you ever think "oh shit"? how does it expand your understanding of the songs?
I was so excited when I woke up Friday morning and checked my phone to make sure your album was there. I listened to it while I was gettIng dressed and then driving to work. I may have even played it in the med room at work. I really enjoy listening to your harmonies and how your voices have such a richness to them.

I'm late to the party, just wanted to defend i bet it stung, one of my favourite songs of all time...props to skq
I'll never forget the feeling of soaring the first time I heard this song. It's still one of my favorites.
I also thought this was a clever title. Clever enough that I used it for a (very old and no longer existing) email account.
this has always been one of my favourite songs, you can feel the pain in it, you feel eveything about this song.
I love getting to hear your demos!!!
There is something about this song that makes me feel so many things at once.
Sara, your songs are always more popular in my house. And I never left my Emophase. I also love your new and improved mullets. Just so you know.
The demo is so raw, I love it!

Demos are important!!!!!

Highschool first level demos... not talking about The Con being a demp album. Sacrilege.

Happy Valentine’s day to T & S and all the T&S’ers. You’re all amazing, wonderful and deserving of so much love!
