Good for you, Sara, that you have mastered the art of Motherhood, having a career and creative time for yourself! And don’t forget to credit yourself for a great long-term partnership with your wife!

My my. Such good taste in media. Sid too. Grumpy Monkey was Kate and Nicky’s favorite a while back. Nicky is extremely smart and I credit Kate with that for constantly reading to him and encouraging him to read on his own. One of Nicky’s best days is when we get a load of books from the library.

Do you and Stacy split up the care for Sid when you’re not touring or jet setting to all the glamorous awards shows?

Some Christmas season movies that I love to keep alive is Trading Places, Die Hard, and Family Man. Check them out, if you’re in the mood.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. 😊

Hi Sara,

Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to have a proper look into your playlists and lists at a later date.

But now, I need to vent a bit. Let me start with saying, to you and Tegan, thank you so much for creating such an accepting Community on here! I’m not a social media person but this has made me more comfortable. I have a YouTube account where I make comments like on live stuff and had recently started commenting on videos of some YouTubers I watch. I didn’t really get any replies accept a spam account. Anyway the rant is: I commented on this YouTubers video (she did a video about that idiot online who was reacting to people adding in an option to put your pronouns in on a video game, if you haven’t heard about it, he was essentially screaming at the camera about ‘all these fucking pronouns’). I made a comment, saying thank you to her (the YouTuber) for commenting on this issue as someone who is LGBT+ herself but not trans. I put in brackets a question asking if she was cis because she had never overtly said so online and asking to be corrected if she was indeed trans. I got two replies in 24 hours, (which for a person with no YouTube vids and who’s made maybe 5 comments in total is surprising!). One was asking me, if I was really asking her, if she was a slur. I was confused and replied something along the lines of ‘not sure if you’re trolling me or actually asking? But in case you are asking, ‘cisgender’ or ‘cis’ is a descriptive term that just means ‘not trans’ it’s not a slur’. The second comment needs explaining about exactly what I said in my original comment. I professed it by saying ‘Hi Blank, I’m so glad you made this video. As a trans person it’s awesome to see a cisgender person being equally outraged for us.’ Which is when I asked in brackets if she was cis. I also wrote my pronouns at the end and said something like ‘no one asked but it’s to piss off the transphobes’ which is maybe a bit cheeky but doesn’t warrant either response. The other response I got was quote

‘You desperately need therapy’

Also I want to just say again, that this was a message of support to this youtuber, I didn’t mention my depression or anxiety, the only thing I mentioned to warrant that response was being trans and my pronouns. Sorry for the rant but this is one of my first transphobic reactions directed at me. (The third directed at me to be exact, and the first one from a person I’ve never met). Also it’s a first for me someone saying it to ME and not to a friend or a family member about me.

Sorry for the rant. Hope everyone was sufficiently warned.

Transphobes f*cking suck!

Thank you for sharing all your stuff Sara!

I’m officially 17 now.

Phoenix, he/they/it, 17, Australia

PS: I left out the YouTubers name for her privacy and because while I have unsubscribed to her because of her followers, others shouldn’t do the same. She was genuinely supportive towards the trans community! (She’s one of those bi identifying YouTubers who kind of flys under the straight radar because she doesn’t really talk about being LGBT+, which is I’m guessing how she gets transphobic followers).

Cat's First Baby is hands down my 21-month-old's favorite board book. I can recite it from memory at this point.

Thanks for this round up, Sara. Having a kid in back in 2015 definitely decreased my personal reading time significantly; that is when my enjoyment of podcasts and audio books really took off. As Rosie has gotten older, it has been so special to share in reading with her at each stage, and now I have a lot more time to read things of my own choosing. I love reading aloud to her just as much a reading silently along side her, as she does her own independent reading.

I’m definitely lacking in my movie viewing this year, and adding a few from your list to my plan for the next couple weeks. Happy holidays 🧡

When I had my son I worried about the same things you did, would I have enough time for my beloved books, podcasts, audiobooks, tv shows..as my son has gotten older I have been able to read more and re-watch my favourite shows like Working Moms, The Office, This Is Us, Sex Education. I Love You Forever is a hard read for me as it gets me quite emotional. Especially knowing the background of the story. I absolutely love Christmas movies, A Christmas Story, What a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street (the original) Die Hard (yes it’s a Christmas movie!) and Happiest Season. I love reading my son my favourite books from when I was a child, Robert Munch, Little Critter, The Magic School bus books..

Thank you for posting your “likes” this year. I will be looking into some of them.

This post reminded me of when my sister was small and used to call them “strawbabies” and it was endlessly adorable. So happy that you are growing into your bigger family with such aplomb!
