Sid definitely sounds like an easy going child to travel with (except for the sleeping part). I am sure now that Sid is back home and around all the familiarity he will return to that 12 hours of sleep. Children are adaptable and flexible this way thankfully. Itā€™s also nice that he is content when you go out for meals. My son was all over the place. He would not sit still. I love the image of Sid sprawled out in between you and Stacy in the king sized bed. I heard that you have Covid, I hope you recover quickly and you donā€™t get any horrible symptoms from it. Take care.

Sharing these feelings and sentiments is very beautiful. I am glad tour with family went well, and hopefully you can get Sidā€™s sleeping back to the way it was. Iā€™ve never imagined how hard it is to travel with a baby and how time consuming it is, but reading your experience is changing my whole narrative. Iā€™ve never given excuses to my friends who are new parents to why they havenā€™t been in contact as much and why we donā€™t go out as much anymore, but now I feel selfish and I do understand it a bit more.

I truly hate looking at photos for memories and prefer to write a poem about the memory to either romanticize it, relive it, avoid it throughout releasing the negative emotions of it out on paper, or just simply cherish it. I donā€™t know if thatā€™s better or worse.

Also, ā€œIs he a fan of T+S? (Only if singing in a high-pitched voice and replacing all the words with ā€œmeowā€ and or ā€œSid-do-do-do-do-doā€).ā€ Oh, no, is he obsessed with Baby Shark? Because if so, I am so sorry for you. Hahaha

I'm happy to know that overall things went well on this first tour after so long and first tour with family. Is the plan to bring Sid on every tour now that you lived the experience?

So true about the memory thing, I constantly search for photos in my cloud whenever I'm telling a story and I feel upset when I realize I didn't document something but maybe I should be more present and focus on what's happening in front of me so I can actually remember it later instead of relying on documentation.

It's so awesome that you got to bring Sid along for the tour and to give him all of the amazing experiences for the first time! (even if he won't remember them lol). I saw you and stacy walking with Sid in Seattle and it was the cutest sight, y'all are such an adorable little family šŸ„¹ How has Sid been since you came home from tour? Is he adjusting back into the regular routine again?

Also, I hope you are feeling better, Sara! Having covid is no fun and as excited as I was to see you and Tegan at Zonafest tomorrow, your health is top priority. I hope you're well!

So disappointed to not perform at zone. :( We're all on the mend, thankfully. But, yeah...covid still not a joke :)

Zonafest wasn't the same without y'all but i'm so glad y'all are resting up and doing better!

We definitely respect and appreciate the effort it takes to tour, let alone, tour with a new born. But Iā€™ve gotta say, when I saw you and Tegan on Ventura, I too really loved that show, especially because it was a cozy crowd and not one where we couldnā€™t move around. I hope you heard me scream and applaud you saying: ā€œSara on that bass!,ā€ because I was so genuinely intrigued by that instrument transition. I hope you heard me. To add a personal observation in that performance, your vibe was solid boss vibes! YOLO. šŸ‘šŸ½

I like when you or Tegan say that your favourite show was Vancouver so I can say Iā€™m personally responsible for it. I mean, I danced A LOT in the upper far corner of the Commodore.

Hey Sara,

That was great! It was awesome hearing you talk more about Sid and what itā€™s like to travel with him!

I hope your feeling ok with covid and everything, Iā€™m day 10 now (I think), my voice still sounds off. My mumā€™s one or two days ahead of me and still coughing everywhere but is feeling ok. I assume youā€™re with Stacey and Sid and they have it too? If so I wouldnā€™t worry too much about Sid having it, my aunt, uncle and baby cousin (whoā€™s about 2 months older than Sid) all had it when my cousin was 2 months old and apparently she just got a bit of a sniffly nose.

Anyway, hope youā€™re doing ok.

This is sort of unrelated but does Sid have dark blonde hair or is it just brown but really thin? Thatā€™s kinda interesting if he does, cause you and Stacey both have naturally dark brown hair, right? Anyone in your family with lighter hair, or Staceyā€™s?

I just found the hair thing interesting (feel free not to talk about it if you donā€™t want to)! Love the Sid related content!

Anyway Really good post!

Feel better!

Stacy was a blondie till she was an older kid...though we're still not sure about Sid and what's gonna shake down with his hair...

As always, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Sara!

Hearing about the regression situation with Sid having to sleep with Stacy in her bunkā€¦ I believe Stacy more than earned her time alone in the rooftop hot tub lol.

The description of Sid sleeping between you and Stacy with his arms stretched out and a little smile on his face is absolutely adorable. As adorable as the photo of him with his headphones during the VIP part.

This tour seemed to be challenging and super tiring between the sickness, having to cancel shows having to adapt to having a baby on tour, but you pulled it off. Itā€™s nice to read that you had many new and great moments and Iā€™m sure that getting to tour with your partner and child was an unforgettable experience.

It makes me so happy to read and listen to you talk about your family. As a closeted lesbian it gives me hope of maybe someday getting to have that too.

I donā€™t know any same-sex couple with children, so I hope you know that the representation you give is so important. So thank you so much.

PS:I know you have COVID so I hope you feel better soon!

PS 2: is there a chance that Sonia and Stacy will write about their experience on tour? It would be great to hear their thoughts about touring with you.

Five years on from my son being born and I canā€™t remember my former life. Eating or drinking alone now feels strange, even when itā€™s a precious day off from parenting. Itā€™s a mean trick almost. When you are a fully engaged parent, youā€™re worn out but when youā€™re away from the family, you miss something and feel guilty about it. From everything Iā€™ve read and listened to, it sounds like you two are excellent parents. The days are long but the years are short. Youā€™re doing great, Mama bear.

P.S. Sorry you got the ā€˜Rona. I hope you fight it off quickly. Feel better soon.

This was so lovely, really is such a big change to everything having Sid with you. But such a nice one I imagine. šŸ˜Š

A noise machine thatā€™s such a good idea, itā€™s only until you listed it do you realise just how much you need to look after a baby on the road.

I hadnā€™t seen the picture of Sid in his headphones until after Iā€™d read the post. And wow that really is just as sweet as Iā€™d imagined it. šŸ„¹

Thank you for doing this tour recap Sara, it was great.

PS Sorry to hear that you finally caught Covid Sara, I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Also that houseplants question, wow thatā€™s amazing! šŸ˜‚ Credit to whoever thought of that.

Sara, I hope you are managing ok with covid šŸ’™ I really enjoyed reading your tour reflections šŸ§” All the bits about traveling with Sid; as draining as it was at times, Iā€™m sure these memories are worth the struggles. I admire you and Stacy for doing what you can to incorporate Sid into meals out early on and now touring as a family. I remember the early newborn days fondly. Rosie was 2.5 weeks old when I began venturing out regularly; first for short coffee dates and then meals out. That motivation to maintain some of my normalcy proved to help to this day, both for me and my child. Itā€™s probably why Rosie could hang from VIP all through to the end of your main set in Seattle šŸ˜‚ Definitely worth disrupting the bedtime routine ā˜ŗļø

The Ventura show was so fun! I really enjoyed VIP and just the whole vibe of that night. I threw you the Flames jersey......I realized about a week after I ordered it, that itā€™s gonna be a good hot minute before Sid is gonna fit into it šŸ˜¬ hope he can enjoy it at some point ā¤ļø Thanks for such a fun tour and I hope more fans will get to experience it in 2023 šŸ„°

My sister had four kids by the time she was 22. Although she enjoyed being a mom, she often said that when you have kids, your life is not your own anymore.
