You may hate me for saying this but I did not like the Vancouver Christmas market when I went last year. haha. Maybe I missed out on the good stuff. My highlights were the spiraled potato on a stick and sampling cider. I didn’t get the hype. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime.

I can’t comprehend sleeping with something in my ears. I feel like it would be like sleeping soul socks on for me. I just can’t. It gives me the ick haha.

Douglas (my dog) has had too many run ins with tape worms. We live next to a nature preserve and there are tons of wild animals.

Merry Christmas 🎄

Tegan, thanks for sharing your favorites for the year! I agree, the instant pot is magic. I make soup at least a couple times a week in it.

The Vancouver Christmas market sounds nice! A new one opened here in Seattle this year, but I heard mixed reviews. Maybe we will check it out next year. We have a tradition of looking at lights in a neighborhood in north Seattle. We pick up pizza and each eat a slice while walking around enjoying the lights. This year wasn’t too cold, it was great! On our drive back home, we stop by Dick’s for shakes and fries (a root beer for me).

All your book, podcast, and music recommendations are much appreciated; I also cannot really get into listening to fiction. I have tried. What’s up with that?

I love a London fog, so good! Interesting it started in Vancouver? It recently saw a Seattle fog on a cafe menu, and wondered if it was different? Apparently, it had a bit of orange zest added on top, and optional cinnamon.

To finish up this extremely long comment:

•I also love my loops ear plugs

•I dream of a cedar hot tub. Someday. Happy for you that you’re living your hot tub dreams

•maybe I’ll give the squid game reality show a try (the series unsettled me)

•gap jeans! Wow, I haven’t been in gap since 2003

•sending love to Georgia! Loved seeing her open her Christmas treat on IG stories. And this photo you shared of her is too cute; I know I have shared before, she very much reminds me of my former husky/border collie ❤️ Hope she recovers quickly from the tapeworm!

Happy holidays to you and your whole fam 🧡

Aww Georgia and Tegan in a giant cedar tub. I'm happy for your happiness. I loved reading this and now have some podcasts, movies and music to check out... And regular inseam jeans from the gap... The world is a wonderful place, and Tegan and Sara make it even better. Merry Christmas 🎄

How sweet. Georgia seems like a lovely dog and I get what you mean about the noises she makes. This season we got twin kittens (Max and Peter 🐈‍⬛), and they love sleeping on me. Their purrs are so strong and they go on and on. The rhythmic sounds are really calming to me.

Did you go full Griswold this year or did you dial it back? I went all in complete with using the moose mugs. 😊

I hope you’re feeling better and had a great Christmas. If you don’t post again, have a Happy New Year. ❤️

Hey Tegan,

Thanks for posting! I love the video! (Is there a way you can read an audio of the post and have a vid?)

If you read my comment on Sara’s most recent post you’ll see that I had some transphobic comments thrown my way, don’t worry not on here, on YouTube. It threw me, I’m not really on social media and I got one ignorant asshole and someone else essentially saying I need conversion therapy. People are pricks sometimes.

I love hearing about Georgie though! I’ve always been a little dog obsessed and was thrilled when I heard you got one. (I was a fan before you got her). My mum’s allergic to dogs and preferred cats anyway so I see to just shy away from dog stuff knowing I’d get some when I moved out. Then my mental health took a huge nosedive and my parents (especially my mum) made lots of sacrifices to get Grover my dog. Who, in case it wasn’t clear, is not hypoallergenic. My mum loves him too now but still gets allergy flare ups when one of his hairs makes it’s way up her nose. Now I have a full blown dog obsession, only matched by my Tegan and Sara obsession! I loved seeing her again, she’s beautiful Tegan! I also love when they cock their head at you when you say a word they like (like frisbee or dinner).

As for book suggestions to listen to, not much in the non fiction department. I’m crawling my way out of it but for this year and a lo5 of last year I’ve been too depressed to really bother with books. In terms of fiction I can recommend anything by Becky allbertalli and either of Jules Machais’ books.

Funny what you said about listening to dogs sleeping, I love the sound of Grover snoring. He’s fast asleep and snoring loudly now.

I hope to be able to introduce him on the t-shirt zoom!

Thanks for sharing Tegan! I’m really tired so I should probably copy Grover!

Phoenix, he/they/it, 17, Australia

(I’m 17 as of the 19th of Dec!)

Happy belated Christmas!

PS: my mum’s allergic to garlic too, among many many other food (like onions, gluten, fructose, excessive amounts of dairy and lots of other stuff). (My mum’s gut has a few issues you could say.) She and my dad also get Hayfever like you and (Sara too?) get.

(So I can empathise re the garlic and stuff because it annoys her to no end, and the hayfever which has started more recently for me as well)

I loved this so much! Thank you for sharing! I had to look up what an instapot is. I don't think these are very popular in Spain!

I love all the progress you're making with Georgia 🥹 my sweet dog passed away last September and I am devastated and heartbroken but it brings me joy to see other people enjoy their dogs and look after them well. 💜

I've added to my list so many of the things in your list! Lovely, thank you for sharing. 💜💜💜 Happy new year 🤩🎉

Tegan, fantastic post. One of the highlights of my year was seeing my 5th Tegan and Sara concert!!!! I don't listen to many podcasts, no reason. I don't read much, but listen to books a little. Right now I am listening to all the Pendergast novel series by Preston and Childs, and of course every book that has the names Tegan and Sara involved in it. I love spending time with my wife, my son and our 3 soon to be 4 cats. Tv : Survivor, Holiday/Spring Baking Championship, Woman's Professional Soccer, MLB baseball, NFL football, College Football Bowls, NCIS, Blue Bloods and other cop show like this. We also have an 8 x 16 foot hot tub, you are always welcome.

Anyway, looking forward to flying to Chatham-Kent from Tampa to see you guys next year. Until next post, hope to hear from you soon. See you on the Zoom in January. Later

I’m going to start off with I absolutely love Christmas Markets! Have you ever been to Blue Mountain in Ontario Canada? The Christmas market is magical there. Blue Mountain also has a resort, spas, skiing, tubing, hot tubs.. I know you said you love your hot tubs. My dog, Zelda is also one of my favourite things of 2023. She’s a rescue from a local rescue organization. My niece is also one of my absolute favourite things, she just turned 5 months old. I too watched the new Squid Games and like you I cried, a lot watching it. As for books, I read Junior High, Pageboy, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (by Maya Angelou) and Britney Spears’ book. I listened to a lot of true crime podcasts, watched Happiest Season and binged Schitts Creek. As for music I listened to you and Sara, Sam Smith, Celine Dion and Sara Bareilles (I know I butchered her last name). Thanks for letting us know what your favourite things were!

I hope someday a library or a Reading Room is erected in your names and holds all of your collections. A TSQ Reading Room where dogs with tapeworms are frowned apon but welcomed and there's always hot decaf coffee in the insta pot.

Love to see a list of your favorite things! Sara's was cool to read too. Ur so real for the London fogs. That sounds really good right now. It's interesting you enjoy the sounds of other things over music-I personally HATE silence so I whatever I do I have to be listening to music, and that's probably why my Spotify wrapped numbers were so high (tegan and sara were once again, my top listened to artist). Here's some of my recent favorites- some are new discovories and some are songs I've liked for awhile.

will def be listening to your Spotify playlist. I already saw some names of bands and artists I love so that will be good to listen to (even though I made fun of my roommate for listening to Zach Bryan lmao)

anyways. good luck with Georgias worms and happy new year :)

Happy holidays Tegan ❤️ Great list. I agree with you, one of my favourite things this year too (and every year) is our dogs. No matter what life throws at you they are always there to make you smile (sometimes cry too!) Omg poor Georgia! Sending healing vibes and hope she recovers quickly ❤️‍🩹 Must be awful.

I really enjoyed The Squid Game Challenge too which surprised me. Have you ever seen a (game) show called The Traitors? A second season is finally starting in the UK in Jan, but we enjoyed the 1st so much we've watched the US and Australian ones too 😆 I think there may actually be a Canadian version that's just aired. It's a lot of fun. Interesting concept and to see how people interact in those situations.

Never heard of loops! But I can't sleep in silence or with headphones/plugs in so always have a white noise machine/fan noise playing or if it's not too cold, I have an actual fan on 🫠 Started as an 'innocent' little thing to block out noise but now it's become a necessity 😬 Have a great rest of 2023 & I hope 2024 is good to you ❤️

I loved the video of Georgia playing frisbee. If my dog, Pierce, had that frisbee it would be torn in five minutes. He is an aggressive chewer and plays fetch with a Chuck-It stick. He even has a glow in the dark stick. I feel you on the allergies. I am extremely allergic to cinnamon (eating, touching or smelling it) and I always have to be on high alert from September to January. Vitamin C drops have proved to be very helpful when I have to go through areas that have cinnamon in the air. I read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, and Doppelgänger because I saw you recommended them and I throughly enjoyed them. My favorites things this year include my dog, Hogwarts Legacy on the Switch, your songs, Boygenius, Pvris, Gayotic podcast, and the TV show Irrational (a behavioral scientist uses his expertise to solve crimes; every episode you learn about a new theory). My most favorite thing I did this year was see you guys in concert.

My best wishes for an incredible 2024. Hope I manage to come to Ontario next spring.

Love,
