I just watched the second Wreck It Ralph film with my son Christopher. When the credits rolled a song started playing that I instantly liked, and it instantly made me think of you and Tegan. I got Shazam to start listening, all the while thinking, Tegan and Sara should cover this song, without a doubt! It turned out it was ‘Zero’ by Imagine Dragons. Isn’t that band Tegan’s favourite band!? I think it’s an interesting link. I can hear Tegan has surely been inspired by them! Would you guys ever cover that song, or any Imagine Dragons song?

You know, my older brother made fun of me because Siri incorporated Shazam and I didn’t know. Lol. Some of the more interesting songs I found through Shazam/Siri was Silver Bird by Mark Lindsay, Act Like You Know by Fat Larry’s Band, Get In A Hurry by Eugene Blacknell and The New Breed, More Bounce to the Ounce by Zapp, Six Different Ways by The Cure, and Goodbye, Goodbye by a really cool Canadian duo, Tegan and Sara! Boom! 😍

Thanks for sharing, Sara! I use google app for that and I take screenshots of the finds to add to my Spotify later. The last one I did was Bad Habits by Delaney Jane.

Oh! Shazam has been a Godsend!🙏 Before, I had to strain as well, or accept the fact that I couldn’t figure out a lyric (thus no googling it, even though I have been nicknamed the “Commercial Queen” because I’ve found lots of songs from them).

😉

Anyway, best find with Shazam---bbno$’s (baby no money) ‘Edamame’ from 2021. Incredible!!!

Thanks for sharing Sara.

I'm always doing the same, I love discovering new music! I've really gotten into The Japanese House lately. Thanks for sharing, you and Tegan should make this a monthly thing!

Great idea. Do listening to songs on Shazam give you inspiration to write?

I discovered “Entertainment” by Marci through Shazam. You might like it!

I don’t have a “Shazam” account but remember back in early 2000s when they had those MP3 players and you could download music off of The Pirate Bay or Limewire? I’ll admit that I did it and I’m making a public apology to all the music artists who worked hard on their music. I was wondering if you had an MP3 player and did you use any of those piracy sites? I remember my first walk-man. I though I was the coolest kid ever haha. Miss those days.

I didn't even know Shazam existed until your 2019 show in SF when I told the person I was with "Damn this pre-show music is good, wish I knew what it is." (So happy when you published the playlist on your Spotify afterwards.)

Omg. I already commented, but I also discovered a demo song from 1968 called ‘Reconsider Me’ by Margaret Lewis.

She apparently did demos and licensed them out to other artists. But look up this song by her (on Spotify). It’s the best imho, and has quickly become my favorite song ever.

Very sweet.

Love this idea. My last Shazams were “Buddy Holly” by Weezer, “This Is a Life” by Son Lux ft. Mitski and David Byrne, and “A Shopping Day” by Meroy Johnny.

This is actually uncanny, since the very last Shazam I did was during your LA show @ the Fonda 10 days ago! This song was playing during your walk-in music, Casual by Chappell Roan. Had never heard this song before but man it caught my ear real quick. Definitely had me vibing. Swear I usually find at least one song during pre or post show playlists at any concerts I’m at. Thank the music gods for Shazam cus otherwise I would have to go back to trying to write out the lyrics in order to find it lol! (Notepad in back pocket depending AOL days 😜)

My last ones were Heart by Flor and The Balcony by Fruit Bats. I got so confused/excited when I heard that one because it sounded just like an old song by my favorite local band Pomegranates ☺️💗

Sara my last Shazam was in August 2022. It was Rod Steward My Heart Cant Tell Me No and Prior to that April 2022 I Love You So By The Walters. I used to do it all the time. I often find myself just driving with no music. Maybe I should. Thanks Sara for sharing. And Happy Belated Thanksgiving

Tbh I'm way more used to listening to a part of the lyrics and just googling it, did that before Shazam existed and I guess it's hard to break the habit.

But I checked my Shazam playlist and these are some of the ones I got:

Steelheart - She's Gone

Marlon-Volveré

Air Supply-Making love out of nothing at all

Bon Jovi-Always

Sara I know Bon Jovi is your go to for karaoke, I'm just saying but a Bon Jovi cover would be rad ;)

And talking about music, just wanted to share that for some reason I remembered that the title for Sainthood and the theme for the album was inspired by "Came So Far For Beauty" from Leonard Cohen, so I've been playing that song over and over today.

I don't use Shazam, but the Google thing where you turn on the mic and you find out who the song/artist is. I mostly use it at school when I hear a song I like (last week it was an anifranco song). Although when I'm at the store I usually have my earbuds in , so I don't really pay attention to the music playing in the background (except the time I heard walking with a ghost in goodwill)

Ah Shazam. I love that app. Sometimes I just Shazam songs – when they play in random places – I know cause I’m bad with titles/artists. Even my favs.

My last five:

•Dance Monkey - Tone and I

•Grapefruit - Tove Lo (cause I couldn't remember the title at that moment.)

•dominique - Ela Minus (have this on my phone but forgot which artist 🤷)

•The Ghost Inside - Broken Bells

•Who Says You Can’t Go Home - Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles

One more for good measure

Sieze The Power - Yonaka

You certainly have a diverse play list. I have no clue what Shazam is other than a super hero. Haha! Maybe my age. Honestly, I feel I am catching up with Tegan and Sara. I had no idea you existed until I saw Tegan on Tik Tok. Now it's everything Tegan and Sara. And how the f**k did I not know gay twin artists existed!!! And not only do they exist, but you found another set for "High School "... I will be amazed if this message reaches you 2. I'm honestly driving my wife nuts listening to you guys all the time... Thanks for the music list!

Hey Sara,

Thanks for the post! I’ll have to check out the playlist later (when it isn’t past 1am).

I don’t use Shazam I use Apple Music but I’m happy to give my recommendations never the less.

The artists/bands (besides T&S, I feel like you’ll always be my number 1 band spot)- Noahfinnce (that’s his artist/YouTube name, his first name’s just Noah, his music’s like Northshore), Conan gray (Conan’s music reminds me of heartthrob and love you to death, in other words it’s heartbreak pop!), One ok Rock (unlike the other two they are Japanese band, (Noah’s UK, and Conan’s American), a lot of their lyrics are in English though), I also have to recommend two bands that thanks to my mum I grew up hearing- Coldplay and Crowded house (my mum’s a mega fan of both)!

I’ll give you my recs for the first three, (I know that you know the other two):

Noahfinnce- Lalala (his most recent song).

Conan gray- Disaster (from their most recent album)

One ok Rock- Stand out fit in (from their 2019 album).

Like I said, thanks for sharing your Shazam stuff (as well as Spotify). It’s really interesting to know what your favourite artists listen to and what influences them.

I’ll check out your Shazam list later, (which I’m guessing I can still play on here without having Shazam, it looks like it). (Me editing- yeah I can, but only 30 secs of each song).

Thanks Sara, also, no pressure but if you do a longer post can you read it?

I like your playlist Sara, yeah an interesting mix. 😊
