That just happened to me when I was watching Glamorous. A song came on, when it hit the chorus my brain got confused cause I thought I was listening to Charli but then it was a song from 2007 by September. Guess Charli sampled it for Crash. The song is Cry For You and it’s cool. I had to download it. https://open.spotify.com/track/1KQ1Uq5ajCCN2SzPHVRfgM?si=XrRikb48T5mh_tY9E2z6Ew&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0dMfRWTkg6VodhCaZfdVJm

Guess I should add Charli’s is Beg For You.

Hey Sara,

Thanks for uploading, please (when you aren’t on tour) try to read your posts, even short ones.

I just listened to both songs now, I can see the similarities they have to each other, though they aren’t really the genre I’m listening to right now. I’ll admit I hadn’t heard either before you mentioned them, I was surprised to see that ‘wet & rusting’ came out the same year I was born (anyone feel old yet? just kidding! I’m just aware of how it can make people feel when I say that because most of my friends are older than me significantly. (One of my best friends is a good 15 years older than you two for example)).

Anyway, I mentioned in one of Tegan’s most recent posts how certain songs take me back to times in my life. Mostly songs from when I was quite young as I started listening more to lyrics when I was older. I do sometimes hear the beat or something similar reminding me of another song in things and grin (if I like both songs). It doesn’t happen to me a lot though, I’m not anywhere near as musically talented as you and Tegan.

Sorry I forgot to write yesterday, I’ve been busy reading junior high, down to the last chapter and putting off reading it. (I do that all the time with things like this, put it off repeatedly, and eventually just do it and then get to feel happy I saw/read the ending but sad that it’s over.)

Side note- as of The Con’s most recent birthday we’re the same age (until I turn 17), I’m glad that I’m younger than the con but I wish there was more of an age gap between us, (and that I was born pre So Jealous). Can’t have everything I suppose.

Thanks again for sharing Sara. Hope Sid, Stacey and the cats are doing well! (Hope I spelled her name right I always forget).

Yay! Another Sara post. We, well definitely I, miss seeing you on here. And, man, does this post resonate. I thought I was the only one that kind of thing happened to. Millennium by Robbie Williams drew me to an old James Bond movie with a similar tune.

Oh, and, I also love when you and Tegan reveal the music or books that hold your fancy. You two have good taste. Ima give both those songs a listen now.

Hope you had a nice rest at home with the fam and good luck on the next stretch. Any favorite moments from the tour?

Not sure I’m picking up the sonic similarities you mention. But I can say the wardrobe on that album art reminds me of a certain Hell music video by a certain Canadian twin sister duo.

so this is a weird one, but one that I discovered this week!

songs often play in my head as I sleep. This week, we've been binging the Wutang Clan series on Disney+. (it's very good, I do reccomend)

This brings me to the song Method Man by Wutang. the hook in that song is "M-E-T-H-O-D maaan"...and as it was repeating in my head, it kept changing to Method of Modern Love by Hall and Oates. Then I listened to it. Then listened to Wutang. and realize... Method Man FULLY got that line from the hook on Method Of Modern Love... and honestly, this discovery has brought me such joy. I hope this reads relevent to someone 🤣

All the time. Practically every Taylor Swift song triggers a recall for me in some way. Some voices too, no matter what song. Tegans does that to me, and here I recognized JB immediately. And I think you nailed where it is in these songs. Unpopular opinion, I think JB would do a great "He Needs Me" cover from Popeye.

I listened to both songs and when I really focused I can sort of hear what you are referring to. Thank you for introducing me to Wet and Rusting. I really enjoy that song. Your song Burn Your Life Down always reminds me of Newsboys when Peter Fuller was the lead singer. The vocal melody in Burn Your Life Down for me is very reminiscent of 90s Newsboys.

I hear it! And I had a similar experience in 2002 with 'A's song, Six O'Clock On A Tube Stop - it sounds like a lost early Police single, back when they were pretending to be punk, from the vocals to the urgent guitar to the misanthropy and paranoia: a song for a lonely city-dweller in an atomised society, surviving on social scraps in a sea of missed human connections.

I later found out that Jason Perry wears his Police fan heart on his sleeve (that reference to The Bed's too Big Without You in the single Starbucks, for instance), but it was such a pleasure to know it instinctively on first hearing the album track.

This happens to me all the time while listening to music. I always go on YouTube to see if someone has made a mashup of the songs.

Ha yeah, I love it when music does this too. As much as it feels amazing when you do make that connection and finally remember what song it is. When you can’t, or don’t remember. It can be torture! 😂😊

I’m going to go away and listen to the songs you mentioned and see if I can hear it!

I’ll also see if I can think of any others, where I’ve had a similar reaction. I know there are. I’ll see if I can remember examples.

Thanks for sharing this Sara, you’ve prompted a whole lot of thinking and searching! 🙂
