My mom is from India, and she makes me rasam when I’m sick. It’s a spicy and flavorful Indian soup that’s loaded with turmeric and garlic. See if your local Indian place can gin up some for you. It really helps.
Ta. 😊
P.S. This past year, I listen to T&S ten times more than the next closest artist, according the Apple Replay. ❤️
Thanks for writing. I hope you’re feeling better now (or that you do, if you already aren’t).
I’ve had an interesting pathway with being sick, my parents are very different when they’re not feeling well, my mum wants to be looked after and my dad (when he bothers to acknowledge he isn’t well) just wants space. When I was younger I was more like my mum, but I’m more like my dad but with a subtle mix of both now, I want space and to just look after myself when I’m sick but I want to know someone’s there. I don’t want to be looked after though. So It’s a fine line.
I can’t imagine what being sick on the road is like. It must be awful! I couldn’t live on and off the road, I moved schools lots of times when I was younger (as I mentioned in a different post) but I’ve never moved houses, we’ve gone on holidays and rented others but this has always been my house. So for me, I couldn’t live in a constant state of movement. It makes me have a lot of admiration for people who do/can actually do it. It’s part of the reason I’m trying to put a little pressure on about you guys coming to Australia but not enough to be annoying, I get that I don’t get how hard touring is. (I know that sounded like an oxymoron, but I’m hoping it made sense?)
I also had what I call my ‘Tegan and Sara anniversary’ a couple days ago, it’s the day I discovered your band! 3 years now! (It feels a lot longer than that). Yes I know you’ve had fans who’ve been fans for decades but I’m only 16 and I’ve been a fan for 3 years, that’s pretty awesome! I mean 4 out of your 10 albums were out before I was even born. (Sorry not trying to rant, I jus5 don’t want people thinking i’m less of a fan or anything). Anyway, I’m excited to celebrate 3 years!
Having a cold sucks ass, hope you feel better soon.
We had a playroom as kids growing up that we called the den, really it was home made beer /sowing room too lol.
One memory that I have as a kid was getting chicken pox,all 5 of us would be made to stand in line whilst my mum dotted each of us with calamine lotion, then sat us on a leather sofa and we would stick to it 😁.
As for dog walking I do believe I have the only husky in the world that doesn't like the cold, she hates the crispy ground.
Hope you feel better real soon Tee ❤️ I never used to get sick all that much so I counted myself lucky, but since having covid I've noticed it's been way more often. I almost always get sick when I get back after travelling now, and when we see our nephew - kids are great for passing nasty colds etc on (give me dogs all day every day lol) 🤒 Look after yourself ❤️🩹 I'm sure Georgia would be waiting on you hand and paw if she had the capability to, no doubt she's by your side, dogs always know xx
Being home sick in 2004 is actually what made me a super fan of yours! I was aware of you guys from my (then closeted) sister and had a couple of your songs that I consistently burned onto CDs (Divided and some sped up bootleg version of Hello) downloaded from Kazaa or limewire but up until then, in my mind, Sara was the singer and Tegan was a boy playing the guitar. It wasn't until one day I stayed home alone sick from school I took my sister's copy of So Jealous and popped it into the computer to discover the DVD element of it and discovered that you were not only twin sisters, but the funniest coolest people I'd ever seen in my life. I was instantly obsessed and couldn't get enough of you two. 20 years later I still can't! Being the days before youtube, aside from Much Music and the The Hit List on YTV, it was really tough to see musicians as people and I'd never been able to witness them at the level that DVD displayed you guys. You're such pioneers for realising so early how effective media like that and documenting yourselves is to connect with fans and I just wanna say I think you're neat! As a weird gay kid from Calgary, you have a fan for life that just wanted to use this opportunity to say thanks for always being there for me. Feel better Tegan!
Tegan, I hope you feel better quickly 🧡 You just unlocked many memories of being sick at my gramma’s house. Eating chicken noodle soup off of tv trays. Resting on the couch in the living room first, moving to the playroom later in the day. Chicken in a biskit crackers, a spoonful of skippy peanut butter (not on the crackers) and grapes for an afternoon snack.
And only when the Today’s Special music started did I remember watching that show! I texted my brother after reading your post to see if he remembered the show. His reply: “Yes, vaguely. Mannequin that came to life, puppet security guard, puppet mouse. Yeah, it’s coming back to me.”
Hope you feel better soon :) 😘 I was sick 4 weeks ago and It was awful. I'm not used to get sick because i'm one of these people who gets sick maybe 1-2 times a year but It was sooo good to TRY to not do anything and be a slacker for once 😆. For me soup and TV shows is all I need to get better.
Hope you feel better soon, Tegan.

Omg. Kazaa. I completely forgot about that one.
