This is so beautiful and your voice is very soothing. I don’t know why I ended up crying. What kind of femotion is this? Can we get an official version of this cover, please? I need it on Spotify
This may not be a universal truth, but I think I am a better parent when I balance my time with my children with other fulfilling endeavours.
Even though parenthood redefines your priorities and who you are as a person, it is not all of who you are.
It can be so, so difficult to spend hours, let alone days, weeks, or longer away from a child you adore and are completely devoted to. Painfully so. Still, I believe that ensuring that you don't lose yourself to parenthood will ultimately lead to a fuller sense of self and a healthier relationship with your child.
Perfection. From the B&W moderate contrast, the familiar sights and faces, your soothing voice and the lullaby twinkle score. This is the best bedtime video.
I wish it was possible for you guys to read it and have a video, but I appreciate the videos too sometimes more than the reading! And I know that the video (in this case) was the whole point.
That would be strange doing something you love but feeling guilty because it’s not to do with Sid. From what my parents have said, as kids get older, your focus shifts and you learn it’s important to take time for yourself as well as spending loads of time with your kids/kid. My mum often says, (when we watch shows where parents just suddenly feel lost because their kids are teens and they leave) that that’s why it’s important to have interests outside of anything to do with your kid/kids. I can appreciate though, that perspective would be hard to grasp right now in terms of that happening with Sid. (And of course, feel free to ignore me, as I (obviously) am not a parent yet).
I also can’t begin to Imagine that guilty feeling you were talking about, but just like when we leave our pets and then come back, (I’m sure he’ll work it out way before our animals would), that his second mum is coming back. (By the way, I didn’t mean second in a secondary sense just as differentiation).
Love the video! That’s so cool! I love that Sid gets to have a mum so passionate about her work that she makes him his own personal music video just for him!
I remember my surprise when you announced Sid’s existence to the wider world, trying to grasp the thought that your a mum, now it’s weirder thinking about when you weren’t one and thinking ‘oh yeah, that was pre-Sid, strange.’ Because now it just feels like another part of you! Even just in the glimpses we get to see, I can tell you and Stacey are excellent mums!!
Thank you so much for sharing even just a little of your parenting journey with us!
Just to reiterate, love the video, love the purpose of it even more!
Love this! Singing to little ones is probably the most endearing thing to me. Then when they try to sing it with you or they like touch your face as you sing ❤️ - I could sob thinking about it 🥹. I have a few audio and videos of my now almost all grown up little people. When I go through my external drive I play a lot of them and smile. Then send it to them.
Played this while my baby was breastfeeding and she pulled off just to lay there and grin. She's only 3 months but I've never seen her react to a song so joyfully!
I didn't grow up with Bruce Springsteen but the reason I occasionally recognize a Bruce Springsteen song is because of Tegan and Sara. Nice cover, it sounds very beautiful
Aw that is beautiful, what an amazing gift for sid. I know it feels bad to be away but try not to let it get to you. You'll be back with him in your arms before you know it.
Welp, wasn't anticipating starting my day off with a little cry (my mom loves Bruce) - this is lovely. Your kid is gonna have this song as a part of his life forever. My mom sang Three Little Birds to me when I was little, and it will always remind me of her.

That doesn't mean it's easy.
next up for t&s: an album of bruce covers???
Beautiful singing Sara. Inspires me to make my own. 🫶
P.S. I LOVED your version of I'm On Fire mixed with Not Tonight in a video I saw on YouTube.🤘

🧡 my favorite Bruce song! I get chills whenever I hear it. This is beautiful, Sara. You’re a great mom.

That was lovely, Sara. I understand Sid’s reaction to your singing. 😍
Will you keep these little clips coming, please?

This is so beautiful. And Sara, your studio/office is a dream, I so long for a room like that for myself. I love exposed brick walls.
