Ooo Call It Off isn't in the main set list? Is this because Faded has similar vibes? I think this is the first time since The Con came out that it's not in the set list (but my memory might be off ha).

My friend and I are doing a roadtrip to see you for 4 VIPs Nov 2-6. Super stoked!

PS: Tegan used to be super against in-ears, and now uses them. You gave explanations for disliking them years ago. Would you discuss why you use them now? Was the change with them (like tech changes) or with you?

Yes, right now Call It Off is not in the setlist. I think partly because of Faded (and some other slower stripped-down nuggets we have planned) but also to just change things up!

And I still don't love in-ear monitors but it's better for your ears and the overall show to use them, so I do! Begrudgingly!

I feel like this is false advertisement because it makes me think you're going to play Take Me Anywhere on tour, ha! It's going to be my first time seeing you live ever, so I'm making it up by going to 6 shows, 2 being VIP! I'm beyond excited!!!! Good luck in preparation and on tour ❤️ I think you answered this already but are we allowed to film during VIP? I want to go live on TikTok in Toronto, hopefully that's not a bad idea!

Prolly unrelated but it reminded me unboxing "So Jealous". There's a song named "So jealous" inside. All good.

10 years later, bought "Still Jealous", no "Still Jealous" song inside. smh

I had VIP tickets during the heartthrob era tour for 3 shows. Austin, St. Louis, and Cincinnati. It was an amazing experience meeting the band at those shows. I especially loved the little sound check concert at the Cincinnati show.

I had an extra VIP ticket to the Cincinnati show because my wife had to work that day and I just gave it away to a random fan outside the show waiting on line. Her reaction when I asked “Does anyone want to meet Tegan and Sara? I have an extra VIP ticket” is a memory that I’ll always cherish from those tours. I’m glad you’re doing them again. I hope there are VIP tickets to the next set of shows. I’d love to buy an extra just so I can surprise another person.

Soil, Soil! Would absolutely love to hear this acoustically during VIP, one of my favorites. Introducing the fans into your secret world be amazing. We'd love to have an in-ear listen.

Want to Be Bad!!!! That would be awesome. Looking forward to hearing a couple of old songs I’ve never seen you perform. Got a VIP package for the Cleveland show, and I can’t wait. Not sure if you can answer this yet, but does “early entry into the venue” mean after the soundcheck and before doors? Or just early for the soundcheck? Will VIPs queue outside to enter the show?

Cool post btw! ❤️

We are working on the plan now. Info should be emailed soon. My understanding is you'll arrive and be checked in while we finish OUR soundcheck, then we'll do the VIP party and you can choose to leave or stay to buy merchandise and be in the venue when doors open. But if that is not the case I think you'd be allowed into the venues first. but again, we're working on all this and info should be shared shortly!

Hey Tegan,

Sorry if this is one of my longer ones, I have a lot to say!

You talked briefly in your post about the difference in you and Sara being 12 versus being 13, I get that too but in a different way, when I was 12 was pre covid, I turned 13 at the end of 2019, so there’s that divide for me but also, for me I ‘lost my innocence’ at 14 not 13, and by that I don’t mean something else (don’t read into it), I just mean I (at 15) have a lot of mental health issues and figuring out the gender part of my identity at 14 I was beginning to understand the discomfort I felt around my body was actually gender dysphoria. Anyway, to talk about things less depressing than my life, (joking, sort of). 😁🤪

In terms of covid boosters, as you’d know if you remember talking to the Australian person on the 2021 t-shirt zoom, the vaccine roll out was ridiculously slow, in fact it’ll be a year on October 14th since I had my first covid vax (I know). The government decided that people part of a certain age group, I can’t remember I think it was 60 than 50 than 40 (you get the idea), but they took forever to lower to age group to vaccinate teens and people in their 20’s (stupid if you ask me, who’s the most likely to break the covid rules and party anyway, teens and people in their 20’s). Anyway, I’m happy you’ve had your 4th. I think my dad’s had three and my mum’s had 4. As for me, I’ve had 2 because if you’ll believe it, even now, I can’t get my 3rd until I’m 16. Idiots! Enough about covid.

I thought your post was really good! Off topic but I agree lanyard is a weird word. I loved the snippet of under my control, I said on my comment on Sara’s most recent post, that I particularly liked the sound of the song names I’m Okay and Under my control, and omg from that snippet was I right! (Fair warning, I’m going to go on a bit of a rant but please still try to read it, Tegan, cause I want to explain how I didn’t get to hear Under my control even though I tried really hard!)

So, when I saw that you were realising a song for 24 hours only and for such a good cause, I signed up to Bandcamp so I’d be ready. Th next day (day of the realise) I got an email from Bandcamp explaning about the 24 hour album that was coming out later that day, I immediately went to check the time difference, it’d be realised at 6pm. Easy, I could do that! So I set a timer for 6 and logged into band camp. (I’d explained to my mum about the album and where the proceeds were going to) and so at 6 I asked my mum to help me buy the album (I don’t have a credit card), she helped me and said half the cost would come out of my pocket money. I nodded. But after we’d bought it I slowly started to figure out that the only song I could hear was the first song, my mum tried it too and had the same result. After 2 hours of trying to sort it out we called my tech savvy uncle who wasn’t able to figure it out either. So we gave up and I said I’d check on it the next day, but I had a brainwave before bed and realised, I’d seen it and two other things my mum had bought on Bandcamp years ago, all together. I went back to find the tab and realised we’d paid for it on mum’s no longer active account which is no longer active because her work shut the email she had down, and we couldn’t do forgot password without the email. So that’s how I ended up paying for it only to not be able to hear it! Good cause though, and I’ll hear it soon!

(Me editing- you probably gathered but apart from just before I talk about the tab, when I say something about realising I mean releasing but it’s almost 1am and I don’t want to go back and change all the different times I say it).

Thanks for reading this far, anyone who did!

Forgot to say- can’t wait to 🤞🏼See you in Aus! I will definitely be a vip (please do them here too)! And Want to be bad or Not tonight would be great to hear!

PS: when u two are less busy again, the acoustic video performances were awesome(WDTGG, CIF, Bad ones/Not Tonight) it’d be great to hear more of those, even just on here?

PPS: this isn’t about the post but it looks like the live yellow video’s no longer available on YouTube? (It says it’s private) What’s up with that? (I watched it only a couple days ago).

Sorry for all the technical snafu's you've had getting the song off bandcamp! GEEZ! I'm the worst with technology. The other day I wanted to buy one of our songs for my latest post and COULD NOT for the life of me figure out how to buy a song on iTunes. I had to GOOGLE IT! LOL!

I don't know what is going on with Yellow. I'll check it out!

Oh, the Heartthrob tour... what an absolutely wild time. My wife still can’t believe that I’ve been to Hawaii one time and one time only, for 48 hours, for a Tegan and Sara show.

One thing to add about the VIP experience, from the perspective of an attendee, is that it’s a place where some really great friendships are made. When you’re sharing such a unique experience, and you’re often with other fans for hours before the show begins, it’s really a place where bonds can be made. Im sure this isn’t news to anyone engaging here on Substack, but the community that’s been built is really second to none.

I made friends on the Heartthrob tour that I wouldn’t trade for anything, and I know I’m not alone in that regard. I hope that the VIPs (and really, anyone who has a ticket) on the Crybaby tour get to build those same kinds of connections. There’s such power in community... in queer community... in trans community... and you’ve made spaces where people can experience that, and in ways they might otherwise not be able to. It’s something we collectively need right now, given everything that’s happening in the world.

I’ve only been to one or two shows since 2014, just because of life, work, etc. but very very excited to go to the show in Boston.

Thank you. See you soon.

See you in Boston! That is VERY cool you flew to Hawaii once to see our show. Never amazes me the length people go to see our shows and I too am so moved by the community and the connection that people who listen to us have found with each other. Nothing makes me happier!

Singing is not in my talent house and being generally soft-spoken, I lose my voice after every concert I go to. Thinking about the tour schedule and how much you're practicing leaves me in awe of how strong y'all's voices are. If I had to perform 2-3 shows in a row for a whole ass month, there's a 99% chance I'd have permanent ashtray voice, so how DO y'all protect those angel pipes? Truly loving the evolution of your voices and your music! The album is sounding so so fresh with every song getting better than the last and I'm giddy thinking about losing my voice with you all hopefully next year!

P.S. Your pronunciation of Mario sent me down a rabbit hole. Fun facts: his full name is Mario Mario, he has 2 ex-gf's, in appearance years he's 41, and Yoshi's are asexual.

Yoshi's are asexual! FASCINATING!

How do we protect our angel pipes...well...sometimes we don't! HA. There have been some eras where I definitely had ashtray voice! I think the big thing is warming up and not over singing. This is where the in ear monitors really come in handy. Rather than singing over a loud stage with blaring amps and noisy drums we can control what we hear, and that allows us to have a ton of our own vocal in our ears and that allows us to sing at a lower volume. But sometimes you get so excited you just have to sing louder! HA. I did take a break the last few days to give my voice a rest. And our rehearsals this week will only be 5 hours to save our voices. But it's hard! It does take stamina!
