I personally hate it when my birthday doesn’t go as planned. I love to plan my birthday and what I and my parents will do. These days I have a very flexible schedule, but lists and organising things was part of how I felt like I had some control over my life while I was in the school system. That’s a long winded way of saying I’ve always liked my birthdays although I know what you mean about birthdays and Christmas sometimes feeling anticlimactic. Sometimes I plan it and then it sucks anyway, sometimes Christmas doesn’t feel right because it’s not going how I thought or I don’t have my mum’s whole side of the family there, or my favourite cousins can’t come, etc.
I do like to celebrate yours and Sara’s birthday though! Every year since I’ve been a fan, I watch (and add to) videos I made (just for myself) of clipped together parts of bits of your music videos over the years, then photos over the years, then the closest thing I can currently do to a Tegan and Sara concert, watch a whole bunch of recordings of songs, usually preparing the links in advance and putting them in order of oldest to newest. I also do a similar thing to celebrate my birthday and what I call my ‘Tegan and Sara anniversary’ which was the day I discovered your music.
I hope you both had a great birthday and day off! Hope you got to see your partners and Sid and all the fur babies!

hey there, some unsolicited-but-affectionate advice from a humble student of astrology: we are sooo much more than our sun sign! I encourage you to investigate (with a healthy dose of skepticism) the other major placements in your birth chart, and soak in the logic of the planets and zodiac themselves along the way. many many people don't relate to their sun sign at first (myself included) but find much affirmation and greater understanding of themselves and others when they explore the whole picture beyond the shallow image of sun signs and "pop" astrology. astro.com is a great place to start. have fun! ♡
Yeah, the website Sara recommended (I think it was last year in a substack post), tells you stuff about your birthday as opposed to your sign, I found that much more accurate. Though I didn’t do a deep dive as it was one of those ‘are you a boy or a girl’ websites. (For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m nonbinary)
